Card surcharge explained

1 min read Updated April 2026

When paying by credit or debit card, a surcharge of 1.75% + $0.30 AUD is added to the total.

Why it exists

Visa and Mastercard charge merchants a processing fee for every card transaction. Under Australian Consumer Law, we pass this cost on to customers who choose to pay by card, rather than building it into our base prices for everyone.

How to avoid it

Choose BECS Direct Debit at checkout. BECS requires only an Australian bank account (BSB and account number) and carries no surcharge.

When the surcharge applies

  • Test bundles: Surcharge on the full purchase amount.
  • Class enrolments: Surcharge on the first term only when buying multiple terms together. Subsequent terms are not surcharged again.
  • ACST bookings: Surcharge on the full booking amount.
  • FlexiClass credit bundles: Surcharge on the full purchase amount.

Is the surcharge shown before I pay?

Yes. The surcharge is itemised in the price breakdown on the checkout page. You can switch payment method at any point before confirming.
