OC Mastery is Test Academy's dedicated preparation program for the NSW Opportunity Class placement test. Weekly 3.5-hour sessions give Year 3 and Year 4 students structured practice across all tested sections in groups of up to 8 students.

- Year 3 and Year 4 students preparing for the Opportunity Class (OC) placement test
- Students who want expert-led weekly preparation with an OC-specific curriculum
- Students who benefit from small-group teaching with performance tracking
OC Mastery typically begins in Year 3 Term 2 or Term 3, running through to Year 4 Term 1 — the term in which the OC test is sat.
What you'll cover
The program covers every section tested in the OC placement test:
- Mathematical Reasoning — number operations, fractions, measurement, geometry, multi-step word problems, and data interpretation
- Thinking Skills — logical reasoning, pattern recognition, abstract thinking, and verbal reasoning developed for the OC test format
- Reading Comprehension — fiction and non-fiction passages, vocabulary in context, and inference questions
- Writing — structured essay technique, narrative and persuasive writing, grammar, and editing
- Spelling — vocabulary and spelling skills targeted to the OC test standard
The curriculum is OC-specific — not generic exam prep. It progresses from foundation concepts through to timed full-test practice as the exam date approaches.
