As the Opportunity Class Test approaches, you may be wondering what happens on the day of the test, so we've compiled information regarding what to expect from the 2024 Opportunity Class Test. We'll cover what to know before the test and what to expect on the day.
What to bring to the test?
The most important thing to bring is your printed copy of the test authority letter; it will tell you where your test will be and what time you need to arrive, as well as granting you access to sit the test.
Wear your school uniform to the test and don’t forget to bring a hat or jumper if its cold. It is important to also have a good night’s sleep and have a big breakfast.
8:45am: Arrive at the test centre.
One of the test supervisors will meet you at the test entrance. Make sure you have your test authority letter ready to give to them.
9:00am - 9:30am: Students assemble and enter the test room.
Remember the test room is a quiet space. You will be seated and given instructions. If you have any questions, you can put your hand up and the test supervisors are there to help.
9:30am - 10:00am: Reading test (30mins)
Remember to shade your answers on the answer sheet and not on the question paper
10:00am - 10:10am: Short break
10:10am - 10:50am: Mathematical Reasoning test (40mins)
10:50am – 11:00am: Short break
11:00am - 11:30am: Thinking Skills test (30mins)
11:40am: Students are dismissed
You are all finished and you can celebrate now!
The order of the tests on the day is – with short breaks between the tests:
You will need to use your thinking skills and problem-solving skills to find the best answer to each question.
When you sit down, on the desk there will be a sheet with your name and details on your table – so you should check that everything is correct and sign your name.
You should work at a steady pace as there will be lots of questions to do. There will be a clock at the front of the room so you can keep track of time. Complete every question, even if you are unsure of the answer. If you are struggling with a question, you can come back to it later. Mark such questions with a large asterisk so you can spot it as you flip through the question booklet.
Hopefully this article helped to clear any anxiety you held. Remember to try your best and take deep breaths to stay calm. If you're feeling nervous, that's a very good thing - it means you care and are excited to give it your best shot. You've got this!
